Professional Experience
With over 25 years of architectural practice, Walter has worked on a variety of project types ranging from retail, office, medical, religious, bio-tech to high-tech. Prior to his collaboration with Brett Labrie in 2015, he was the sole owner of Meridian-based Johnson Architects, where he had designed and managed countless projects of varying sizes for both private and public entities.

As the firm’s chief designer, Walter has an innate ability to decipher a project’s program requirements and then translate those needs into a built product that is functional, efficient, and visually appealing. This is achieved while keeping the construction methods practical and on budget through an integrated design process with our consultants and through constant communication with owners, contractors, and vendors throughout both design and construction phases. His propensity to listen, learn, and then balance various design alternatives is an essential tool he possesses, which helps assure with any design challenge, the most favorable solution is achieved.

Personal Life
From a very young age, Walt had always wanted to be an Architect. Whether it was the countless hours he spent drawing or working with Legos, it was in his blood. While architecture is a big part of Walt’s life, he also treasures his time with the love of his life, Vicki. Walt and Vicki’s pursuit of a simpler way of living led to the development of a mixed-use building in downtown Eagle, where they currently live above the Fusions Glass Studio with their two Dachshunds. In his free time, Walt can be found playing his acoustic guitar, most preferably alongside his dear friends.

His friendship with Brett dates back to their college days at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in the late ‘80s.

Professional Experience

A Treasure Valley resident since 1993, Brett Labrie has held ownership roles in both large and small architectural firms before co-founding Lindgren:Labrie Architecture in 2015. Throughout his career, he has completed work on a wide variety of projects ranging from custom residential to commercial, aviation, military, civic, industrial, and multi-family projects.

In addition to his 25+ years in practice, Brett has first-hand experience with design-build acting as the Developer, Architect and Builder. Experience performing all these primary project roles has provided Brett with a unique understanding and insight into the various challenges a project faces from concept to completion. This in-turn enables Brett to offer experience-based guidance and problem-solving in a variety of areas that can impact the success of a project.

Strong management skills, familiarity with system-intensive projects, in-depth construction knowledge, and high attention to detail are just a few attributes from which our clients have greatly benefited by having Brett on their team.

Personal Life

Brett began working in his Father’s Architectural firm at a very young age due to his love of art and interest in building things. In addition to his great passion for architecture, art, and music, Brett is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying his time fishing, hunting, boating, and when at all possible, exploring Idaho and tropical locations with his lovely wife Cynthia by his side. As empty-nesters with four children between them, Brett and Cynthia are enjoying a quieter lifestyle living in Eagle just a short walk from downtown.

Brett’s friendship with Walt dates back to their college days at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in the late ‘80s.
